it's fabulous, the best homebrewed coffee method (affordable, that is) out there. and it's a lovely design...my only slightly negative comment is that i expected ceramic but it's plastic. oh, and go to the new york times archive and find the recommended procedure for brewing the coffee (more than just grind it and pour over the hot water)--it really does make a huge difference in the final cup.

The Hario drip coffee system is capable of producing outstanding results. You do need their kettle so that you can add the hot water very gradually. It's worth the investment to buy it, rather than trying to use another means of controlling the water flow. Also, there are videos online that show the proper procedure. Watch the videos, follow their advice, and you will have a first rate coffee drinking experience.

This dripper has the spiral raised ribs on the inside, like higher priced glass and porcelain versions. The quality is high for a plastic part. I like the fact that it won't break if I drop it. The base is wide enough to sit on top of large mugs. No issues whatsoever.
